VENICE, FL – Authorities said one person was killed and two others injured in a wrong-way accident in Sarasota County Monday night.
According to WFLA , the crash happened on Interstate 75 near Border Road in Venice at about 10:45 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said a 37-year-old woman was driving an SUV south in the northbound lanes of I-75. Her vehicle struck the front of a sedan, killing the sedan’s driver. The victim was a 21-year-old Sun City man whose name was not released.
A passenger in the SUV was critically injured. The SUV driver, a Punta Gorda resident, was seriously injured.
All northbound lanes of I-75 were shut down while state troopers investigated the wreck.
