LAKELAND, FL – One person was killed and another was injured when a motorcycle crashed head-on into a passenger vehicle southeast of Lakeland yesterday evening.
Fox 13 reports that 46-year-old Lani Kyle Youngblood was speeding west and illegally passing vehicles in the eastbound lanes of Maine Avenue when he crashed into an oncoming 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage and was thrown from his motorcycle. He landed in a ditch filled with water to the north of the roadway.
Youngblood was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and later released.
Authorities closed the roadway for about 90 minutes as the investigated the scene. The case remains open.
