
SARASOTA, FL – A bicyclist who was riding on U.S. 41 in Sarasota was struck and killed by a car Friday night, according to WTSP.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the victim, age 52, was riding near Spanish Lakes Boulevard when the accident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. Investigators determined that the bicyclist was riding east across the highway’s northbound lanes when he entered the path of a car headed north on U.S. 41, causing a collision.
The impact knocked the bicycle rider off his bike and into the roadway, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.
