SARASOTA, FL – A boat crash in Sarasota Bay claimed the life of a child over the weekend, ABC Action News reported.
Police and emergency crews responded to the scene just north of the Ringline Causeway at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities said two boats collided while they were participating in a youth club sailing practice. The child, who was seriously injured in the crash, died later at an area hospital.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded along with Sarasota police and fire rescue crews.
The FWC is trying to determine what caused the fatal crash.
