LARGO, FL – Police are investigating the death of a child who was struck by a car in Largo Saturday night, according to WFLA.
Officers arrived at the scene of the accident in the area of East Bay Drive and Highland Avenue at about 7:25 p.m. Investigators determined that the victim, a young boy, stepped into the roadway and was hit by the vehicle.
The child was pronounced dead at a local hospital. His identity has not yet been released.
Authorities have not yet disclosed any additional information about the car or the driver involved in the crash. Alcohol was not a contributing factor, according to the Largo Police Department.
