TAMPA, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver died in a fall after crashing his car in Tampa Wednesday afternoon, reports the Tampa Bay Times.
State troopers said the 51-year-old man was driving a Ford Fusion at about 2 p.m. when he slammed into an impact attenuator on an exit ramp from the Veterans Expressway onto Waters Avenue. The man kept driving for another 100 yards before he got out of his car and started walking.
The FHP said he then began climbing over a barrier wall and fell onto the grass shoulder of the roadway. The victim, a Land O’Lakes resident, suffered fatal injuries in the fall.
