NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol says a driver ran a red light prior to a fatal collision in New Port Richey Sunday morning, The Suncoast News reported.
State troopers said a 32-year-old woman was driving an SUV on Moon Lake Road at about 10:15 a.m. when she failed to stop for a steady red traffic signal in the area of Terra Ceia Avenue.
The SUV slammed into the side of a westbound sedan driven by a 78-year-old man from New Port Richey as he was making a left turn. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The SUV driver, a New Port Richey resident, sustained minor injuries in the collision.
