SHADY HILLS, FL – According to WESH, a man died following an eight-vehicle pileup at Canyon Blvd and SR 52 Monday.
The 56-year-old garbage truck driver ran a red light at the intersection and struck a Toyota 4Runner that was stopped at the light. The collision pushed the SUV into six other vehicles that were also stopped at the stoplight. Of the six cars struck, four ignited and became engulfed in flames.
The driver of the 4Runner, a 24-year-old male, died from the crash. Another driver was seriously injured. An unknown number of others suffered minor injuries.
The incident is under investigation by Flordia Highway Patrol.
