
TAMPA, FL – A pedestrian died after an accident that shut down an intersection near the Tampa Riverwalk Saturday evening.
The Tampa Bay Times reports the victim was hit by a vehicle in the vicinity of N. Ashley Drive and E. Whiting Street in the downtown area shortly before 6 p.m.
The pedestrian, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. No information was immediately released about the driver or the vehicle involved.
The area was closed to traffic for about two hours for the crash investigation, and motorists were advised to find alternate routes.
