LAKELAND, FL – A driver died after his pickup truck was involved in an accident in Polk County on Sunday afternoon, according to The Ledger.
The incident occurred on County Line Road sometime before 12:42 p.m. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the driver was headed north on County Line Road when he entered the right turn lane for Pipkin Road West. The pickup went through the intersection and crashed into a utility panel, according to investigators.
The driver, identified as 28-year-old Keith Jones of Lakeland, was declared dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, officials said.
Lanes were shut down on County Line Road and Pipkin Road for about four hours while investigators worked the scene.
