SPRING HILL, FL – A car and a motorcycle were involved in a deadly crash in Hernando County on Sunday afternoon, state troopers said.
According to the Hernando Sun, the incident occurred on County Line Road in Spring Hill at about 1:30 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said a 74-year-old South Rockwood woman was driving a sedan east while approaching Ruskin Avenue when she turned into the path of a motorcycle that was heading west on County Line Road. The front of the motorcycle crashed into the right side of the car as the vehicles arrived at the intersection.
The motorcyclist, a 49-year-old man from Spring Hill, was pronounced dead after being rushed to a local hospital.
The driver of the car and her passenger, a 78-year-old woman from Spring Hill, were not injured in the accident.
When a motorcycle and a car collide, it is almost always the rider of the motorcycle who is most severely injured as they have few protections.
