BLOOMINGDALE, FL – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident in Bloomingdale over the weekend, according to the Tampa Bay Reporter.
Sheriff’s deputies said the driver of a Kia Stinger lost control of the car in the area of Nature’s Way Boulevard and Golf Meadow Boulevard at about 5:30 p.m. The car crashed into a tree and then hit a bicycle rider.
The car overturned and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The bicyclist was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said the driver of the car was speeding at the time, and toxicology tests were done to determine whether alcohol was a factor in the incident.
Anyone with information about the crash was asked to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
