ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The St. Petersburg Police Department reported that two young women were injured in a motor scooter crash on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened at the intersection of 22nd Avenue North and 44th Street shortly after noon. Police said the women were riding a scooter south on 44th Street South when they ran a stop sign, drove around one vehicle at the intersection and struck another vehicle.
The scooter driver and a passenger, ages 18 and 20, were seriously injured in the crash. The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
