LAKE WALES, FL – Three people were killed as the result of head-on crash east of Lake Wales on Friday evening, KSTU reports.
Police say that the fatal incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m., when a black Nissan Pathfinder that was heading west on SR 60 crossed into the eastbound lanes about a mile east of CR 630 and collided with an oncoming Jeep Wrangler. A Chevrolet Impala traveling east behind the Jeep swerved to avoid the wreck but could not, striking the Jeep.
The Jeep caught fire as a result of the crash, killing its two occupants. They have been identified as Ashley Mansard, 62, and his wife, Lori Mansard, 52.
The Nissan’s driver was also killed in the crash.
The Chevrolet’s 27-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was treated for back pain at an area hospital. None of her passengers was injured.
