
VAMO, FL – A bicyclist died after being hit by a car in Sarasota County Friday night, reports WTSP.
The Florida Highway Patrol and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene of the crash on U.S. 41 at about 8:30 p.m. Authorities said it happened as the 68-year-old victim was attempting to ride his bicycle across U.S. 41 from a side access road. The bicycle entered the path of a southbound car driven by a 17-year-old male.
The man on the bicycle was struck and sustained fatal injuries. His identity has not yet been released.
A stretch of U.S. 41 was closed to traffic for the investigation into the accident.
