BROOKSVILLE, FL – Authorities said a box truck and a motorcycle were involved in a deadly collision in Hernando County Monday morning, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of the box truck was going west on Veterans Avenue approaching U.S. 41 in Brooksville when the crash occurred at 11:35 a.m. According to state troopers, the truck turned into the path of a motorcycle that was going south on U.S. 41. The motorcycle collided with the truck’s undercarriage.
The motorcycle rider, a 69-year-old man from Spring Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, the FHP said. The truck driver, a 55-year-old Summerfield man, was not injured.
