TAMPA, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a man died after being struck by an SUV in Hillsborough County early Sunday morning.
The accident occurred on Causeway Boulevard near 82nd Street South in the Palm River-Clair Mel area, according to Fox 13 News. State troopers said the victim was sitting or lying down in the road on Causeway Boulevard at about 6:20 a.m. when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle driven by a 78-year-old man from Wimauma.
The pedestrian, a 27-year-old Brandon resident, died at the scene. The driver was not injured.
