
LAKELAND, FL – State troopers said a driver was killed when her vehicle slammed into a Road Ranger vehicle on a roadway in Polk County Saturday morning.
According to The Tampa Free Press, the accident happened on State Road 570 near South Florida Avenue in Lakeland shortly before 9 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said a 35-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle in an outside lane of SR-570 and crashed into the back of a Road Ranger that was stopped at an exit where a worker was removing debris from the road.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, a woman from Mulberry, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Road Ranger employee, a 27-year-old Lakeland man, sustained minor injuries.
The FHP said the Road Ranger truck had its emergency lights activated at the time of the crash.
