ZEPHYRILLS, FL – One person was killed and two others injured when their vehicles collided in Zephyrills. According to The Suncoast News , a sedan and a pickup truck were involved in the crash Sunday morning on Chancey Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the sedan was headed north on Chancey Road near Correia Drive when the driver was unable to negotiate a curve and entered the southbound lane, into the path of a pickup truck.
The vehicles crashed nearly head-on, with the impact sending both into the shoulders on opposite sides of the roadway.
The driver of the sedan, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the victim was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the pickup, a 61-year-old Zephryills man, and an 81-year-old female passenger were both hospitalized with serious injuries.
