ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Police in St. Petersburg responded to a serious crash involving a car and a motorcycle on Friday night.
In a news release, St. Petersburg police said the accident happened in the area of Roosevelt Bouleverd North and the southbound entrance ramp to Interstate 275.
A 22-year-old man was driving a Mercedes four-door sedan shortly before 7 p.m. when he tried to turn left onto I-275 and turned in front of an oncoming Suzuki motorcycle, investigators said. The motorcycle, driven by a 30-year-old St. Petersburg man, struck the right rear of the car.
The motorcycle rider was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with life-threatening injuries. Police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
