HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A car crash in Plant City over the weekend brought down power lines and ignited a house fire, according to WTSP.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was driving a Ford Fusion on U.S. 92 near Branch Forbes Road Saturday when he lost control of the vehicle at about 3:50 p.m. The FHP said the car struck a tree and a utility pole, causing the wires to fall onto a house that was unoccupied.
The house went up in flames and burned to the ground, with the fire also damaging a truck parked next to the house.
The driver, a 31-year-old Clearwater man, was seriously injured while a passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Clearwater, sustained minor injuries.
The driver was cited by authorities for careless driving and driving with a suspended license.
