PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – A driver died after his car was involved in an accident in South Pasadena on Monday, authorities said.
According to the Tampa Bay Newspapers, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene at 1238 Pasadena Avenue South. The deputies determined that 54-year-old Todd Garner was driving a Ford Taurus south at a slow speed when the vehicle started swerving. The car went across the northbound lanes of Pasadena Avenue South and crashed into a row of bushes.
Witnesses attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and found Garner slumped over the steering wheel. He was pronounced dead after being taken to Palms of Pasadena Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by the Major Accident Investigation Team, but deputies said it appeared likely that Garner suffered a medical episode as he was driving.
