TAMPA, FL – An alleged drunk driver fatally collided with another vehicle on I-75 near Fletcher Ave Tuesday night, according to WFLA.
Michael Troy Jones, 31, was speeding in a Honda Accord on northbound I-75 when he hit a Chevy Cruze. The impact sent the Cruze spinning across the median and into a tree. Jones’s Accord crashed into a tree. At least one of the vehicles also collided with a Toyota Corolla.
First responders were called to the crash site around 10:15 a.m. They pronounced a 25-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Cruz dead at the scene of the accident. The Cruz’s driver, a 25-year-old man, was seriously injured.
The two occupants of the Accord and the two people inside the Corolla all suffered minor injuries.
Authorities arrested Jones and charged him with DUI with serious injury and DUI manslaughter.
