ZEPHYRHILLS, FL – One driver died and another was seriously injured when their vehicles crashed head-on in Pasco County Tuesday morning, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The Florida Highway Patrol said an SUV driver was headed east on Eiland Boulevard near Fountain Road when the accident occurred at about 11:15 a.m. The driver, a 65-year-old woman, crossed over the center line into the westbound lane, where she struck a van driven by a 79-year-old man.
The man, a Jamestown, Virginia resident, was pronounced dead of his injuries at an area hospital. The driver of the SUV, a woman from Wesley Chapel, was seriously injured.
State troopers said she was wearing her seat belt but the other driver was not. The FHP did not release any details on what may have caused the woman to enter the opposite lane.
