POLK COUNTY, FL – According to WTSP, police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a sedan.
The accident took place early Sunday morning at US-17 and Oakcrest Drive. Police believe that 31-year-old Cory Hippensteel was driving at a high rate of speed when he struck the side of a Toyota Camry.
The crash split the motorcycle in half, and Hippensteel—who was not wearing a helmet or protective gear—was ejected from the vehicle. He was hospitalized but later died from his injuries.
This accident remains under investigation.
