TAMPA, FL – A 62-year-old FDOT worker was struck and killed by a driver on Westbound I-4 on Thursday morning.

According to 10 Tampa Bay News , the fatal pedestrian accident happened on Westbound I-4 at State Route 574 around 9:19 a.m.
Victor William Melchionne, 55, was traveling westbound on I-4 in the center lane when he failed to stay in his lane. He then struck the FDOT worker while he was on the shoulder to install a roadway marker. The pedestrian was thrown off the overpass onto State Route 574. He was pronounced dead at the crash scene.
Local authorities arrested Melchionne and he faces potential DUI manslaughter charges.
