TAMPA, FL – A pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV in Hillsborough County Sunday morning, Fox 13 News reports. Authorities said the victim’s body was then run over by two deputies who were heading to the scene.
The initial incident occurred in the vicinity of Hillsborough Avenue and George Road shortly before 4 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said a 41-year-old woman driving an SUV hit a 27-year-old man who was walking across the eastbound lanes of the roadway.
While the man was lying in the road, he was hit again by two deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, an Orlando resident, has not yet been identified.
The incident is under investigation by the FHP.
The SUV driver remained at the scene following the crash, police said.
