TAMPA, FL – Police say a man was killed when a car crashed near Tampa International Airport early Tuesday morning.
Fox 13 News reports a Toyota Corolla slammed into a wall in the outside lanes of George J. Bean Parkway at about 2:30 a.m. The vehicle went up in flames and an adult male was found dead inside the car when police arrived at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released. No one else was inside the vehicle.
The area around the crash scene on George J. Bean Parkway was shut down for the police investigation before the roadway reopened to traffic at about 5 a.m. No major delays were reported to airport traffic because the incident occurred so early in the morning, officials said.
Investigators are trying to determine what led to the deadly crash.
