SARASOTA, FL – Authorities said a man was fatally struck by a pickup truck after falling off a scooter in Sarasota early Sunday morning, according to WFLA.
The victim fell in the northbound lanes of Beneva Road near Proctor Road at about 1:30 a.m. The driver of a pickup that was hauling a trailer tried to avoid him, but the man was hit by the trailer’s tires. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately released.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The northbound lanes of Beneva Road were shut down for several hours as the scene was being cleared.
