LAKELAND, FL – A 19-year-old woman and her 10-month-old child were injured early this morning when their car was hit by a driver in a stolen vehicle attempting to evade police. According to Lakeland Patch, the collision occurred in the 1000 block of George Jenkins Boulevard shortly after midnight Tuesday.
Police first attempted to pull over a stolen Infiniti on Martin Luther King Boulevard, but 21-year-old Stephen Marra refused to comply, instead speeding eastward towards George Jenkins Boulevard. As he passed Sloan Avenue, he drifted into the westbound lanes, where he crashed head-on into a Nissan Altima and seriously injured its occupants.
The 19-year-old driver of the Altima and her 10-month-old baby were seriously injured in the collision, and were airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Marra was also taken to the hospital in serious condition.
