ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A passenger riding on a motorcycle died following a crash with an SUV on I-275 near Gandy Blvd Sunday, according to IONTB.
The driver of the SUV was on southbound I-275 when he slowed down for traffic. The motorcyclist behind him did not stop in time and rear-ended the vehicle. The impact launched both people off the motorcycle.
First responders were dispatched to the crash site around 12:10 p.m. They transported the 49-year-old female passenger to Bay Front Health where she died from injuries sustained in the wreck. The operator of the motorcycle, a 44-year-old man, was transported to the same hospital with serious injuries.
