SARASOTA COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a man was killed when a car crashed into his motorcycle in Sarasota County on Saturday.
According to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, the accident occurred on Beneva Road near Bee Ridge Road about 1:20 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the motorcyclist was slowing to make a U-turn while going north on Beneva Road when the driver of a sedan behind him failed to slow down. The car struck the back of the motorcycle and the rider, a 57-year-old man from Sarasota, sustained fatal injuries. Troopers said he was not wearing a helmet at the time. The driver of the sedan, a 74-year-old woman from Sarasota, was not hurt.
Authorities shut down the northbound lanes of Beneva Road for several hours while the crash was being investigated.
