
CLEARWATER, FL – Clearwater police and rescue squads were at the scene of a deadly motorcycle crash on Saturday afternoon, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Sunset Point Road and World Parkway at about 4:14 p.m. Witnesses told police that a motorcycle rider was speeding and trying to beat a red light when he collided with a car.
The motorcyclist, a 33-year-old Clearwater man, was pronounced dead after being taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.
The two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of Sunset Point Road were shut down for the crash investigation.
