LAKELAND, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred in Polk County on Saturday night, reports WFTS.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 60-year-old Gary Hedrick. Investigators said he was walking and pushing his bicycle along Mann Road in Lakeland when he was hit by a vehicle at about 11:30 p.m.
Hedrick was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital. The sheriff’s office noted there is no street lighting in the area where the accident occurred.
Mann Road was shut down in both directions for about four hours during the crash investigation.
