
MANATEE, FL – State troopers say a man was struck and killed by an SUV while trying to walk across a Manatee County highway on Monday night.
WWSB reports the incident took place on U.S. 301 near 44th Avenue East at about 8:35 p.m. Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol determined that an 83-year-old Bradenton man was driving an SUV south on U.S. 301 when he hit the pedestrian while he was trying to cross the roadway on foot.
Troopers said the pedestrian may have also been hit by a second vehicle. The victim, a 26-year-old man from Sarasota, sustained fatal injuries. His name was not released.
