OSPREY, FL – According to ABC Action News, the 13-year-old girl who was hit by a hit-and-run driver on Bay St and Old Venice Rd on August 16 died from her injuries on Sunday.
David Chang, 65, hit the girl as she was riding her bike in a school crosswalk. Following the collision, Chang fled the area and was arrested on August 17 when he tried to repair the damage done to his car at a body shop in Tampa.
Authorities charged Chang with the destruction of evidence, leaving the scene of a crash involving a serious injury, and leaving the scene with property damage. These charges were upgraded to leaving the scene without rendering aid involving death once the victim died on Sunday.
