HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A driver died after her car plunged into a pond in Hillsborough County Monday afternoon, according to the Tampa Bay Reporter.
The accident happened on an exit ramp from Interstate 75 to State Road 618 at about 1:06 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a 35-year-old woman was trying to exit off the highway when she was unable to negotiate a curve and drove off the road. The car went onto a grass median and then overturned, ending up in a pond next to the ramp.
The woman died at the scene. She was a Tampa resident whose name was not immediately released. Troopers said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
