LAKE WALES, FL – Police in Lake Wales say a young woman was killed in a collision between a car and a motorcycle last week.
According to WTSP, the 19-year-old woman was a passenger on a Honda motorcycle going east on Burns Avenue Thursday afternoon. Lake Wales police said an 84-year-old man driving a Buick sedan stopped at a stop sign at Burns Avenue near 9th Street, then pulled directly into the path of the motorcycle. The impact caused the driver and passenger on the motorcycle to be ejected. The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at Lakeland Regional Health, while the 30-year-old male driver was taken to the same hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The driver of the Buick sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, and was taken to Advent Health.
