PASCO COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said that a woman has been charged with reckless driving for a crash that injured a bicyclist on August 19, The Free Press reports.
The driver was identified as 19-year-old Elizabeth Diamond Zur of Pasco County. State troopers said she was behind the wheel of a Hyundai Santa Fe headed south on Regency Park Boulevard near Maplehurst Drive, where traffic was stopped as a bicyclist crossed the roadway.
According to the FHP, Zur failed to stop, entered the left turn lane, went past the stopped cars and hit the bicyclist. The bicycle rider was a 20-year-old Port Richey man who sustained minor injuries.
Investigators said the bicyclist was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident, and that amber caution lights were activated on the posted crosswalk sign.
Troopers issued Zur a notice to appear in court.
