LUTZ, FL – A collision between two vehicles in Hillsborough County early Friday morning left two people dead, WFLA reports.
The accident took place on U.S. 41 near Crystal Lake Road in Lutz at about 1:15 a.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a box truck was making a U-turn and ended up turning in front of a Mustang. The car crashed into the box truck and slid underneath it.
Two passengers in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. The FHP said the two victims were men in their 30s who were both residents of Land O’Lakes. No other injuries were immediately reported.
The southbound lanes of U.S. 41 were shut down for several hours while the crash scene was being cleared and investigated.
