CLEARWATER, FL – Police in Clearwater shut down a portion of Belcher Road following a serious pedestrian accident on Friday afternoon, reports WTSP.
Investigators said a 65-year-old man was hit by a Hyundai Tucson SUV as he was attempting to walk across South Belcher Road. The man was rushed to an area hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
According to police, the pedestrian was not using a crosswalk and officers believe he was impaired at the time of the accident.
The northbound lanes of Belcher Road were closed between Gulf-to-Bay and Rainbow Drive for several hours for the crash investigation.
