HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A crash on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County Wednesday morning left a motorcycle rider dead, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the rider was a 68-year-old man who was going north in the inside lane of I-75. A car ahead of him had slowed down for traffic near the exit for Big Bend Road, but investigators said the motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and slammed into the back of the vehicle at about 11:21 a.m.
The victim, a Wimauma resident, was thrown from his bike and was pronounced dead later at an area hospital. State troopers said he was not wearing a helmet at the time.
A 79-year-old woman who was driving the car and a 74-year-old man riding with her were not injured. Both are residents of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
