MANATEE COUNTY, FL – A Bradenton man has passed away of injuries he suffered in a bicycle accident on U.S. 301 on June 1, reports WWSB.
The 69-year-old victim was riding his bicycle across the highway near the intersection with 51st East at about 7:15 a.m. when the crash occurred. The Florida Highway Patrol said a 38-year-old Sarasota woman driving an SUV was preparing to make a left turn onto U.S. 301 when she collided with the bicycle rider. Investigators said he was riding in the marked crosswalk at the time.
The man was transported to Blake Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday. The FHP said he was not wearing a helmet when the collision occurred.
State troopers are continuing their investigation into the crash.
