
ANNA MARIA, FL – A child was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle in Manatee County over the weekend, according to the Anna Maria Islander.
The 9-year-old boy was struck in the area of Gulf Drive and Palm Avenue in Anna Maria Sunday night at about 8:45 p.m.
Emergency crews responding to the scene said the boy was conscious but had sustained abrasions and a bruise on his head. He was airlifted to a hospital by a medical helicopter for treatment.
No details were released about the vehicle that hit him or the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The incident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
