TARPON SPRINGS, FL – Two people killed when their tandem bicycle was struck Tuesday evening have been identified as a couple from Odessa, Patch of Tampa reports.
Family and friends confirmed the victims were 50-year-old Janine Dorsey and her partner 58-year-old Peter Yore.
The accident happened on Keystone Road in Tarpon Springs at about 5:50 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said 31-year-old Cory Robert Corrado was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser and passing other vehicles in a no-passing zone when he hit the back of a Ford Escape. The Escape overturned, slid onto the Pinellas Trail and struck the bicycle as the couple was riding. Dorsey and Yore were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Corrado was arrested and charged with two counts each of vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter (drugs). He was lodged in the Pinellas County jail.
Dorsey worked as an editor at the former Tampa Tribune and as a producer at TBO.com.
