
HUDSON, FL – A bicycle rider died after being hit by a pickup truck on a highway in Pasco County on Wednesday evening, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the fatal accident occurred on U.S. 19 near Viva Via Drive in Hudson shortly after 6 p.m. The FHP reported that the bicyclist was riding westbound across U.S. 19 when he entered the path of the pickup that was headed south, and was struck by the vehicle.
The bicycle rider, a 40-year-old man from New Port Richey, was pronounced dead of his injuries after being taken to an area hospital. The driver of the pickup truck, a 56-year-old man from New Port Richey, was not injured.
