LEALMAN, FL – A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a car in Pinellas County Sunday afternoon, according to the Tampa Bay Reporter.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the crash on 54th Avenue N west of 48th Street in Lealman at about 12:15 p.m. The FHP said the bicyclist rode into the path of a sedan that was going east on 54th Avenue N. The 65-year-old driver of the car was unable to avoid the crash after trying to swerve to the right. The car kept going and ended up hitting a mailbox.

The bicycle rider, a 51-year-old man from St. Petersburg, was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The driver of the car, a Stratford, Connecticut resident, was not hurt in the accident.
