HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – Charges have been announced against the man accused of causing a boat accident on the Alafia River that killed a young girl last spring, Fox 13 News reports.
40-year-old Andrew Miltner was arrested earlier this month in connection with the May 17 incident. Investigators said Miltner was intoxicated when he drove a boat and struck two girls being towed on a raft. One of the girls, a 12-year-old, died in the accident while her friend was injured.
The Hillsborough County State Attorney announced on Monday that Miltner has now been charged with boating under the influence manslaughter and vessel homicide.
Miltner was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail following his December 7 arrest. If convicted on the charges, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
