Collision on Drew Street in Clearwater leaves motorcyclist critically injured

CLEARWATER, FL – Police in Clearwater say a collision between a car and a motorcycle left the motorcycle rider critically injured.

The Tampa Bay Times reports the accident occurred outside the Clearwater County Club Friday morning. The two vehicles crashed on Drew Street near North Hillcrest Avenue at about 10:18 a.m., and the 53-year-old man riding the motorcycle sustained injuries that were reported to be life-threatening.

He was listed in critical condition after being transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. The woman who was driving the car was taken to another area hospital as a precaution.

Following the crash, Drew Street was closed between N Evergreen and Orangeview Avenues while police investigated. No specific details about how the accident occurred were immediately released.
