HILLSBOROUGH, FL – An accident involving a semi-truck blocked traffic on a highway in Hillsborough County early Friday morning and left at least one person injured.
According to WFLA , first responders were dispatched to the scene on I-275 south near Bearrs Avenue at about 1:20 a.m.
The truck had caught fire as a result of the crash, and firefighters extinguished the blaze. Another vehicle in front of the semi was towed from the scene.
The injured person was transported to an area hospital, but no details were released on their condition.
Traffic on I-275 was affected as southbound lanes were shut down for nearly two hours. The accident caused a spill of diesel fuel on the highway that had to be cleaned up by a hazmat crew.
